What “vibe coding” means if you don’t code — and when it’s a trap
Describing software in plain words and letting AI write it is real. The trap is where the result ends up living.

“Vibe coding” is the name for building software by describing it in plain language and letting an AI write the code. For a programmer it’s a speed-up. For everyone else it sounds like the end of needing programmers — and half of that is true.
The half that’s true
Describing what you want is now enough to produce working software. You don’t need syntax, frameworks or a computer-science degree. A clear sentence beats a vague 1, but that’s a writing skill, not a coding 1.
The half that isn’t
Code still has to run somewhere. Most vibe-coding tools hand you a project folder, a terminal command and a deployment step. That is the moment non-programmers get stuck — not at “describe”, but at “run”.

How to tell if a tool is for you
- 1Where does it run?If the answer involves a terminal, it’s for developers.
- 2Where is my data?If the answer is “our cloud”, you’re a user, not an owner.
- 3What happens if I stop paying? If the app disappears, you never had it.
