Both start at $25 a month. One meters each change, the other meters how big your project has become.

The meters, side by side
| Lovable | Bolt | |
|---|---|---|
| Unit | Credit | Token |
| What one change costs | 0.5–2 credits in build mode; 1 credit per plan-mode message | Not published; grows with the size of your project |
| Free plan | 5 credits a day, up to 30 a month | 1M tokens a month, max 300K a day |
| Entry plan | Pro $25: 100 credits + 5 daily credits | Pro from $25: 10M tokens |
| Yearly billing | $250 a year ($21 a month) | 10M tokens for $216 a year ($18 a month) |
| Unused allowance | Rolls over, expires after 2 months | Paid tokens roll over, valid 2 months |
| Extra usage | $15 per 50 credits on Pro | Reloads only on the top monthly tier or yearly plans; price shown in the app only |
| Free plan blocks | Custom domain, badge removal, code download | Custom domain, branding removal |
Lovable: you pay per change
Lovable publishes what changes cost in build mode: “make the button gray” 0.50 credits, “remove the footer” 0.90, “add authentication” 1.20, a landing page with images about 2. A plan-mode message is 1 credit; chat is a fraction of a credit.
So Pro's 100 monthly credits cover roughly 50–200 changes, and the 5 daily credits add up to about 150 more over a month. Since June 2026 the same balance also pays for hosting and backend use, so a live app with traffic draws on it too.
Community estimates, not official: one real app takes 80–150 credits in its first month, and heavy users report $200–300 a month. Those figures come from a company that sells app-building services, so read them as a rough range. Cheaper Lovable alternatives lists what else is out there.
Bolt: you pay for the size of your project
Bolt doesn't publish a cost per message. Its help center explains why: most tokens go to reading and syncing your project files on every message, so the same small request costs more as the project grows. Clicking Publish, version restore or buttons costs nothing; each “Attempt fix” click does.
Community reports, not official: 500K–1M tokens per message on larger builds, which is 10–20 messages on the $25 plan's 10M tokens. Single debugging sessions of 10–15M tokens are reported too. The source is a competing product's blog, so treat it as an upper range. See also Bolt alternatives without token limits.
A normal month on each
Take a small app you change about 30 times a month after the first build:
- Lovable Pro: 30 changes at 0.5–2 credits is 15–60 credits, inside the 100 included. The first build month is the expensive one.
- Bolt Pro: while the project is small, 10M tokens go a long way. Once it grows, each message re-reads more files, and 30 changes can use most of the allowance.
The pattern: Lovable's cost grows with how much you change; Bolt's grows with how big the app has become. Fixing bugs costs on both. For the products themselves rather than the bills, see Bolt vs Lovable.
What neither plan covers
Both build web apps. Neither submits to the App Store; that needs a wrapper or a separate native build, plus Apple's $99 a year. Both apps need hosting to stay online, which Lovable now bills from the same credits. If a chat already wrote your app, here is where to run it.
If the app is only for you and you mostly use it rather than change it, paying per message for something you use daily is the wrong meter. Leanfinit is free during the beta: the app runs on your phone with no server behind it, and changing it is another description. App builder pricing compared ranks 15 builders by the same meters.
